‘Wasteland’
(2000) performance work. Public Art commission for Bulkhead. Located at High Street and various off-site locations throughout Glasgow’s old historic centre.
The project involved creating a camouflage outfit covered in images from historic landscape paintings to form a camouflage. For a period of two weeks the suit was worn during a daily walk from Bulkhead gallery space on High Street through a network of overgrown wasteland sites. The concept was about drawing attention to these places of historic and environmental significance whilst remaining invisible to the viewer. The work won the Bulkhead Public Art prize 2000.
